Miniature circular silvered metal on claw and ribbon bar suspension; the face with  the crowned EIIR cipher of Queen Elizabeth II imposed on a maple leaf, circumscribed ‘CONFEDERATION CANADA CONFÉDÉRATION’; the reverse with the arms of Canada and dated ‘1867-1967’ below; diameter 18.42mm (0.725 inch); on original ribbon.

The Medal was instituted on 27 June 1966 and awarded on 1 July 1967 to mark the centennial of the creation of the Federal Dominion of Canada on 1 July 1867 and awarded to Canadians who had been recommended by Federal, provincial and municipal government agencies and national professional, educational and cultural organisations, military and protective services, veterans’ groups, sports associations, and philanthropic and charitable bodies for having given valuable service to Canada.

Approximately 30,000 full-size medals were awarded.

This example is of relatively recent manufacture.
