Circular bronze medal with eyelet for ribbon suspension; the face with the two-tailed lion of Bohemia centrally circumscribed ‘ČESKOSLOVENSKÝ STÁTNÍ HRAD * BOUZOV’ (Czechoslovak State Castle Bouzov); the reverse with a view of Castle Bouzov; on a recent ribbon in Czech national colours. Castle Bouzov is a magnificent 14th Century fortress in Moravia in the east of the Czech Republic, reconstructed in the neo-Gothic style between 1895 and 1910 by Archduke Eugen of Austria as Grand Master of the Teutonic Knights. The Order was suppressed in 1939 by the German occupying forces and acquired under duress by Heinrich Himmler. At the end of World War II the Castle became State property. The origin and purpose of the medal are not known.
