Circular bronze medal with integral crown suspension and ribbon bar; the face with a Leopold cross with crossed swords between the arms and with a crown at its centre, the upper arm bearing the cipher of King George I, the lower arm that of King Constantine I, circumscribed ‘With God, for King and Country’; the reverse inscribed ‘ΜΑΚΕΔΟΝΙΑ ΗΠΣΙΡΟC ΑΡΧΙΠΣΛΑΟC‘ (Macedonia Epirus Archipelago) encircled by a laurel wreath, signed ‘G. Iakovidis’; age-toned; on replaced correct ribbon. The medal was instituted by Royal Decree on 17 February 1914 and awarded for participation in the First Balkan War of 1912-1913. An alliance of Bulgaria, Greece, Montenegro and Serbia ejected the Ottoman Turks from almost all their remaining European territories in 1912 and the war ended with the Treaty of London, 30 May 1913. The medal is becoming hard to find.
