Circular bronze plaque; the face with a full-length female figure in classical dress in relief in a niche, a nursing oil lamp in her left hand, a laurel spray beyond, maker’s mark ‘Q’ at the base for Finland's leading sculptor Gerda Qvist 1883-1957; the reverse with a semi-circular niche with two kneeling putti in relief holding a laurel crown, inscribed below ‘BENIGNITATIS HUMANAE / FINLANDIA MEMOR’ (Finland remembers humanitarian benevolence); diameter 50.38mm (1.98 inches), weight 62 grams (2.18 ounces).

The plaque was made by Tillander Oy Ab of Helsinki in 1947 and awarded to those who had made material humanitarian contributions to Finland during the Winter War of 1939-40 and the Continuation War of 1941-45.
