Embroidered thirteen-point star mounted on a stickpin; the face with a circular central white medallion bearing a red Geneva (Greek) cross imposed centrally within a red border, the arms of the star red and white lateral halves; the reverse plain white metal inscribed ‘GENEVE’ and circumscribed ‘COMITÉ INTERNATIONAL DE LA CROIX-ROUGE’; diameter of the star 27.3mm (1.07 inch), overall height 39.16mm (1.54 inches).

The International Committee of the Red Cross was founded in Geneva in 1863 on the initiative Henry Dunant, since when its sole objective has been ‘to ensure protection and assistance for victims of armed conflict and strife’.
