We are long-time collectors who have a total of 24 years working at Sotheby’s and 10 years at Christie’s behind us.

Based in London, we have strong global links and our interests are worldwide, focusing on the many historic countries in Europe, not primarily Britain and Germany, on South and Central America, not the USA, and on the proud old independent countries of Africa and Asia.

Our aim has been to create the kind of site we always wanted to use – but could never find. We wanted to be pleasantly surprised to find orders and medals we hadn’t seen before or that we’ve wanted for a long time and to find interesting items for a few pounds rubbing shoulders with more expensive, higher ranks of orders - not just stuff we couldn’t really afford.

We like honest descriptions in plain English and we especially like detailed illustrations in colour - so the only surprises are nice ones. We think it’s important to know more than just the name of an order or medal and its price. What great achievement or occasion, personal bravery or suffering lay behind it? What was the historical context? When was it created and why?

We wanted to be able to buy whenever and wherever was convenient for us, using a secure payment method and with transparent charges for secure and reliable shipping - and no hidden extras.

We prefer to avoid the uncertainty of online auctions and the ‘interesting’ sellers they throw up; nor do we like paying the commissions, premiums and unexpected charges of real-time auctions - that anyway seem to happen a lot less often than when we started out.

We like to deal with people who share our passionate interest and to know that if something ever goes wrong, it will be put right quickly and fairly.
