Octagonal bronze medal with laterally-pierced ball suspension; the face with the crowned arms of San Marino circumscribed ‘REPUBBLICA DI SAN MARINO’; the reverse inscribed ‘ANZIANITA’ (Seniority), maker’s mark ‘SJ’ (for S Johnson); on possibly original ribbon, though the statutes for the medal specify a plain pale blue ribbon. The medal, together with the medals for Merit (Merito) and Bravery (Valore), was instituted on 9 June 1925 by Captains Regent Marino Fattori and Augusto Mularoni under the provisions of the Law of 22 March 1860. It is awarded by the Grand General Council on the recommendation of the Regent or the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. A rare medal.
