Circular silver medal on claw and swivel ribbon bar suspension; the face with the head and shoulders portrait of King Edward VII in Admiral’s uniform facing left, circumscribed ‘EDWARDVS VII REX IMPERATOR’ (Edward VII King Emperor), signed ‘DeS’ (for the British medallist George William de Saulles, 1862-1903); the reverse with a battleship at speed under a cloudy sky, inscribed below ‘DIUTURNE FIDELIS’ (forever faithful); attributed on the edge to ‘81057 J.W. MORGAN, SEAn. 1CL, R.N.R.’; a minor edge nick lower right; on probably replaced correct ribbon.
The Medal was instituted in 1908 to be awarded to Petty Officers and Ratings of the Royal Naval Reserve for fifteen years’ service (wartime service counting double).
Seaman First Class J.W. Morgan was awarded this medal at Southampton on 8 April 1910.
