Rhombus (diamond)-shaped copper medal with small points in the middle of each side, on pin and ornate ribbon bar inscribed ‘for the country’ in Thai characters; the face with a radiant two-tiered pedestal bearing the Constitution within a floreate wreath; the reverse with the deity Phra Siam Thewathirat (Lord Protector of Siam), an inscription in Thai characters below; on replaced correct ribbon, lacking the top bar that is inscribed ‘sacrificing your life’ in Thai characters.

The medal was instituted in 1933 (2476 BE) by King Prajadhipok (Rama VII) and awarded to those who resisted an attempted military coup against the Constitution of 1932 and the newly-created constitutional monarchy. The medal is usually blackened but there is no trace of this on this example. We are grateful to a member of the Orders and Medals Society of America for his kind assistance in identifying this medal.
