Circular silvered alloy medal with eyelet for ribbon suspension; the face with the half-length figures of two North Korean soldiers advancing to the left, one with machine gun at the ready, the other with the North Korean flag, a T34 tank beyond, two warplanes in the sky above; the reverse inscribed with the name of the medal, dated ‘1950-1953’ below, a five-pointed star above; on original ribbon and hanger mounted for wear.
The Medal was instituted on 13 August 1953 to mark what the North Korean government assessed as victory in the Korean War, known in North Korea as the Fatherland Liberation War and awarded to both military and civilians who had participated in the war.
The Medal is hard to find.
