Circular silver medal with eyelet for ribbon suspension; the face with the full-length figure of a soldier in a greatcoat with a rifle, advancing right, the North Korean flag beyond, a radiant rising sun in the distance; the reverse plain with the name of the award in Korean characters; age-toned, light contact marks to the reverse; on original faded grubby ribbon mounted for wear. The Medal was instituted on 13 June 1949 to be awarded for 10 years’ exemplary conduct or for distinguished service in combat. This version was replaced by a second version in the 1970s.
