Circular bronze medal with claw and ribbon bar suspension with ‘KOREA’ clasp; the face with the symbol of the United Nations, being a map of the world within a laurel wreath; the reverse inscribed ‘FOR SERVICE IN / DEFENCE OF THE / PRINCIPLES OF THE / CHARTER OF THE / UNITED NATIONS’; on original ribbon with brooch bar mounted for wear and with maker’s mark ‘GRACO-GI’ of Graco Industries, Tomball, Texas.
The Medal was established by the United Nations on 12 December 1950, the first international award of its kind, to be awarded to the members of the multi-national forces who participated in the Korean War between 27 June 1950 and 27 July 1954.
