Heavy circular silver medal with ornate swivel scroll suspension; the face with the Ashokan Lions above the Indian National motto ‘सत्यमेव जयते’ (Satyameva Jayate = Truth Alone Prevails) in Hindi characters within an ornate border; the reverse inscribed in Hindi ‘Dirgh seva - aur - sadacharan ke - liye’ (Long Service and Good Conduct) and circumscribed ‘LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT’ within an ornate lotus border; attributed on the edge to ‘14300086 HAV BHIMBER SINGH H, ARTY’ (HAV = Havildar = Sergeant; ARTY = Artillery), diameter 36.37mm (1.43 inches), weight 40.07 grams (1.41oz); on replaced correct ribbon. The medal was instituted by the President of India on 26 February 1957 to be awarded to non-commissioned officers and other ranks on completion of 15 years distinguished and blameless service. A very good example.
