Cockade with an oval central red enamel medallion bearing the crowned gilt cipher of King Petar I Karađorđević surrounded by a deep blue and then a white enamel ring; the reverse with pins mounted for wear; a minute chip to the red enamel just below the crown; height 36.43mm (1.43 inches). Cockades originated in the 18th Century, to be worn on the hat or lapel to denote allegiance and, later, nationality.
