Circular silver medal with claw and scroll ribbon bar; the face with the arms of Rhodesia centrally; the reverse circumscribed above ‘POLICE RESERVE’ and inscribed centrally ‘FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE’, a wreath of Gloriosa Superba (Flame Lily, national flower of Rhodesia) at the base; attributed on the edge to ‘A.4400 A/F/R JOHN’; a small edge bruise to the lower left of the reverse; on original ribbon mounted for wear with original brooch bar. Shortly after Rhodesia’s Unilateral Declaration of Independence on 11 November 1965 a new servies of Decorations was announced that included this medal. It was awarded for nine years’ exemplary service in the ’A’ Reserve or 15 years’ in the Field Reserve. It was suppressed in 1980 when the country became independent as Zimbabwe. The medal is not often found.
