Circular silver medal; the face with an allegorical figure holding a palm and a cornucopia circumscribed ‘NOS DAS LA GLORIA Y LA PAZ 1838’ (To us the Glory and the Peace 1838); the reverse with a view of a radiant sun over the Mountain of Potosí, inscribed ‘AL VENCELOR D YANACOCHA SOCABAYA Y PACIFICADO EN *AUCA***ATA ‘ and circumscribed ‘NOSOIROS EL CORAZON DEPARTAMENTO D POTOSI’ (To the victor of Yanacocha and Socabaya, Pacifier of *auca***ta); holed and worn. The Peruvian-Bolivian Confederation came into existence in 1836 under Andrés de Santa Cruz, president of Bolivia, and collapsed on 20 February 1839 following defeated by Chilean and northern Argentinian armed forces and Peruvian exiles at the Battle of Yungay.
