Bronze gothicised cross botonny with loop for ribbon suspension; the face inscribed ‘VĔRNI ZŮSTANEME’ (We remained true), the inter-twined letters ‘ČS’ (for Czechoslovakia) above, a wreath of thorns below; the reverse with the lion of Bohemia bearing an escutcheon with the arms of Bohemia on its breast imposed on an upright sword, dated ‘1939’ and ‘1945’ to left and right; on probably replaced correct ribbon mounted for wear in the French style. The Cross was instituted at the end of World War II and awarded to volunteers who had fought to liberate Czechoslovakia from German occupation. The design of the Cross recalls that of the Medal Commemorative of 20 Years of the Independence of Czechoslovakia issued in 1938. The Cross is hard to find.
