Red enamel Greek (Geneva) cross, a white metal beveled wreath between the arms, on laterally-pieced ball suspension; the face with a circular central white metal medallion bearing the dates ‘1940 1945’ within a ring inscribed ‘HET NEDERLANDSCHE ROODE KRUIS’; the reverse plain; on original ribbon mounted for wear.
The Cross was instituted in 1950 to recognize service to the Netherlands Red Cross during the Second World War.
Only about 11,900 awards were made and, in consequence, the Cross is hard to find.
