Blue enamel cross pattée with loop for ribbon suspension; the face with stylised spruce branches between the lateral and upper arms of the cross and on the upper arm of the cross, a central white enamel ‘S’ (for Suojeluskunta = Civil Guards) with an upright sword imposed; the reverse plain; on original ribbon. The Cross was instituted in 1968 and awarded retrospectively to veterans of the Civil Guard during the War of Independence, January to May 1918, the Winter War of 1939 to 1940 and the Continuation War of 1941 to 1944.
