Circular bronze medal on swivel crown suspension; the face with the heads of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly facing left, indistinctly signed; the reverse with the arms of Monaco and dated ‘19 AVRIL 1956’ below; bronze hallmark and triangular maker’s mark of Arthus Bertrand of Paris on the edge; on original ribbon mounted for wear in the Monegasque style. The Medal was instituted to mark the marriage on 19 April 1956 of Prince Rainier and Princess Grace. The wedding attracted world-wide interest and the glamorous couple had a very happy marriage until the untimely death of Princess Grace in a motor accident in 1982. The medal is rare and sought-after.
