White enamel and silver Maltese cross with double ribbon bar suspension; the face with a crowned circular central red enamel medallion bearing the intertwined characters ‘H7V’ (Haakon VII Victory); the reverse silver gilt inscribed ‘ALT FOR NORGE’ (Everything for Norway) and dated ‘7 JUNI 1945’ (the date of King Haakon’s return to Norway from exile), with maker’s mark ‘J TOSTRUP’ and silver hallmark ‘925. S’; on probably original ribbon. The Cross was instituted on 18 May 1945 and awarded for outstanding service, both military and civilian, during World War II. A rare award.
