Circular bronze medal with elaborate suspension in the form of a bar with linden leaves; the face with the Slovak cross with rays between all the arms and linden leaves between the lateral arms of the cross; the reverse with the inscription ‘ZA ZÁSLUHY’ (For Merit) with three linden leaves arranged geometrically above and below; some age oxidisation marks; on original ribbon mounted for wear. The War Victory Cross was an Order instituted by the German-dominated Slovak government on 11 September 1939 in three classes, later extended to eight classes, and awarded for distinguished conduct on the field of battle. The Order is rare in all classes.
