Miniature circular silvered medal with ornate scrolled fixed ribbon suspension bar; the face with the crowned head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, circumscribed ‘ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA F.D.’ (Elizabeth II by the Grace of God Queen Defender of the Faith); the reverse inscribed centrally ‘FOR CAMPAIGN SERVICE’, a Tudor crown above, all within an oak wreath; diameter 18.13mm (0.71 inch); on original ribbon with ‘SOUTH VIETNAM’ silvered clasp mounted loose on the ribbon.
The Medal was instituted in 1964 and awarded for participation in conflicts between 1962 and 2007 where a separate campaign medal was not issued.
The South Vietnam clasp was awarded only to members of the Australian Army Training Team who served one of the qualifying periods in that country between 24 December 1962 and 29 May 1964.
