Miniature circular silver medal imposed on crossed swords within a circular laurel wreath with laterally-pierced ball suspension; the face with the head of King Ferdinand I facing left within a beaded border; the reverse plain; on original wartime trifold ribbon. The Order for Merit was a royal military decoration established on 25 December 1881. This example, the third type of the reign of Ferdinand I, dates from the early years of the 20th Century and would have been awarded either during the Balkan Wars of 1912-1913 or during World War I, 1915-1918. The Order is rare in miniature.
