Miniature circular cupro-nickel medal on claw and ribbon bar suspension; the face with the crowned head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, circumscribed ‘ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA CANADA’ (Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God Queen Canada); the reverse inscribed ‘KOREA / VOLUNTEER / 1950-1954 / VOLONTAIRE / CORÉE’ above a maple leaf and within a laurel wreath; diameter 19.06mm (0.75 inch); on original ribbon.
The Medal was instituted only on 12 July 1991 to be awarded to members of the Canadian armed forces who volunteered and served in Korea and the adjacent areas, including Japan, Okinawa and Korean waters, between 27 June 1950 and 27 July 1954.
