Miniature cross bottony with eagle claw finials, the suspension in the form of a condor of the Andes with wings spread; the face with an oval gilt laurel wreath with the crest of the Colombian Air Force imposed centrally, the lateral arms with blue enamel fields, the vertical arms with gilt-edged deep blue enamel ovals; the reverse with an oval blue enamel medallion bearing the gilt head in relief of Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar y Palacios Ponte y Blanco (commonly known as Simón Bolívar) facing left within a gilt laurel leaf border, maker’s mark of Fibo Ltda. of Bogotá on the upper arm; diameter 18.72mm (0.74 inch); on original ribbon cut short. The Cross was instituted in 1948 to be awarded to Air Force personnel for acts of courage or for outstanding service to the Colombian Air Force.
