Miniature white metal cross pattée, the rams stippled, with crossed rifle and sabre and laurel leaves between the arms, with loop for ribbon suspension; the face with a circular central medallion bearing the arms of Colombia; the reverse inscribed ‘ORDEN / PUBLICO’, circumscribed ‘SERVICIOS DISTINGUIDOS’; diameter 14.76mm (0.58 inch); a small pale patch on the lower right arm of the face, slight glue residue to the lower reverse; on original ribbon cut short, glue residue to the upper reverse.
The Medal was instituted by Decree No. 803 of 27 March 1952 to be awarded to reward members of the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies for acts of courage or distinguished merit during the maintenance of public order.
