Miniature circular silvered bronze medal with eyelet for ribbon suspension; the face with the crowned cipher of Duke Wilhelm within an oak wreath; the reverse inscribed ‘IMMOTA FIDES’ (Latin = Unshakeably Faithful, one of the mottos of the Duchy and the motto of the Order), a six-pointed star above, crossed oak branches below; diameter 15.48mm (0.61 inch); age-toned, some slight wear to silvering; without ribbon. The Order was founded on 25 April 1834 by Grand Duke Wilhelm in memory of his grandfather Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand. The silver honour award was added on 25 April 1903 at the behest of the Duke Regent, Prince Albrecht of Prussia, to be awarded for long and faithful service. It was suppressed in 1918, only 1,804 full-size awards of the decoration having been made. A rare period miniature.
