Miniature circular dark bronze medal with fixed ribbon bar suspension with three indented horizontal lines; the face with the crossed flags of Canada (left) and Poland (right), the Ashokan Lions of India above, a dove of perace imposed centrally, circumscribed ‘INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION FOR SUPERVISION AND CONTROL – PEACE’; the reverse with a map of Indochina showing Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, their names imposed in their respective scripts; diameter with their names in the script of the respective countries; diameter 17.75mm (0.7 inch); on original ribbon.. The Medal was awarded for ninety days service – continuous or cumulative - between 7 August 1954 and 15 June 1974 in the International Commission for Supervision and Control for Indo-China that was set up on the former date to oversee the implementation of the Geneva Accords that ended the First Indochina War, including the withdrawal of French forces, the disarming of guerrilla forces, the partition of Vietnam, the return of refugees and the repatriation of civilians and prisoners of war. I.C.S.C. forces were drawn from Canada, Poland and India to represent Western, Communist and non-aligned blocs and only 1,550 full-size medals were awarded. The Medal was made in Bangalore, India, and is rarely found.
