Miniature oval silver and silver-gilt skeletal badge in the form of an oak wreath with loop for ribbon suspension, the silver-gilt crowned cipher of King George V centrally; the reverse plain; height 23mm (0.9 inch); on original ribbon mounted for wear and with silver ‘INDIA’ clasp. The Decoration was instituted on 17 October 1930 and replaced the Territorial Decoration, being awarded to the same criteria, namely 20 years’ commissioned service, time in the ranks counting half and service in wartime counting double. This first version with the cipher of King George V was replaced by that of King George VI in 1937. A very good period miniature.
