Miniature circular gilt medal with eyelet for suspension; the face with two racehorses, jockeys up, at speed, neck and neck, galloping right to left, another further back to the left; the reverse inscribed ‘RIUNIONE / INAUGURALE / GALOPPO / GIUGNO 1935 / XIII’ and circumscribed ‘SOCIETA‘ IPPODROMO AGNANO • NAPOLI’; diameter 20.23mm (0.79 inch); without ribbon. Races had been held on the dry lake bed at Agnano since 1850 and in the early 1930s the owner, Raffaele Ruggiero, donated the land to the City of Naples to build a better-equipped facility. With the support of influential Neapolitans, work began on 7 July 1934 and the course was opened with great public ceremony on 2 June 1935. In early 2013, the course ran into serious financial difficulty but seems to have been saved by the intervention of a new Society in September of that year.
