Miniature circular silver medal with integral bar for ribbon suspension; the face with the head of King Vittorio Emanuele III facing right circumscribed ‘VITTORIO EMANUELE III RE D’ITALIA’; the reverse inscribed ‘LIBIA’ within a circular laurel wreath; diameter 17.81mm (0.7 inch); on possibly original ribbon with glue residue to the upper reverse. The medal was instituted by Royal Decree 1144 on 6 September 1913 and awarded to the expeditionary force, colonial troops and attached civilians who served in Libya after 18 October 1912, date of the Peace Treaty with the Ottoman Empire.
