Miniature circular gilt medal with ribbon bar suspension; the face with the national emblem of the Sultanate of Oman, being a crowned pair of crossed Omani swords in scabbards, a sheathed khunjar with belt attachments imposed, an Arabic inscription circumscribed above and below; the reverse inscribed ‘Gallantry’ within a palm wreath; diameter 18.07mm (0.71 inch); on original ribbon. The Medal was instituted in 1967 to be awarded for gallant and distinguished service in action in the face of the enemy.
