Miniature silver-gilt cross of sixteen arms with bifurcated ends, a loop to the reverse for ribbon suspension; the face with a central white enamel Latin cross bearing a gilt-edged blue enamel anchor; the reverse plain gilt; diameter 16.86mm (0.66 inch; on original ribbon with gilt pasador top bar mounted for wear. The Order was instituted in October 1946 in three classes to recognise outstanding naval merit and may be awarded to both Peruvian citizens and foreigners.
