Gilt metal miniature oval medal with crown suspension; the face with the head of King Gustaf VI Adolf looking left and circumscribed ‘GUSTAF VI ADOLF SVERIGES KONUNG (Gustaf VI Adolf, King of Sweden); the reverse with the arms of the Swedish Home Guard (Hemvärnet)- the letter ‘H’ surmounted by the three crowns of Sweden – circumscribed SVERIGES HEMVÄRN (Swedish Home Defence); 23mm by 13mm (⅞ inch by ½inch); on original ribbon. The Home Guard was created in 1940 and is an integral unit of the Försvarsmakten (Swedish Armed Forces) organised on territorial lines for the defence of Sweden. Interesting and unusual miniature.
