Miniature circular gilt medal with scroll and fixed ribbon bar suspension; the face with a standing figure spearing a leaping lion, circumscribed ‘GALLANTRY’ below; the reverse with the badge of the Uganda Police centrally, being a crested crane within a stylised oval laurel wreath, a ribbon below inscribed ‘UGANDA POLICE’; diameter 18.49mm (0.73 inch); without ribbon. The Medal was most likely one of several instituted by President Idi Amin Dada in 1972 but we have been unable to find definitive evidence to support this.
