Miniature circular bronze medal with loop for ribbon suspension; the face with the emblem of the United Nations, being a map of the world with gridlines within a laurel wreath, the letters ‘UN’ above; the reverse inscribed ‘IN THE SERVICE / OF PEACE’; diameter 19.25mm (0.76 inch); on original ribbon. The medal was instituted in February 1992 and awarded for 90 days’ service in the multi-national United Nations force that served in the former Yugoslavia and in particular Croatia and Bosnia. Thirty-eight countries committed troops to the force. This example was found in England.
