Miniature circular silvered medal with eyelet and loop for suspension; the face with the head and shoulders portrait in relief of Pope John Paul II facing forward left, circumscribed ‘JOHANNES PAULUS II PONT•MAX’ (Latin = ‘John Paul II Supreme Pontiff’), all within a coppered ring; the reverse with a view of the Basilica and Square of St. Peter’s, Rome, inscribed below ‘ROMA’; slight wear to silvering; diameter 14.22mm (0.56 inch). John Paul II was Pope from 16 October 1978 until his death on 2 April 2005.
