Miniature fifteen-pointed cupro-nickel star with blunt rays and with a shorter blunt ray between each of the arms, with ring to the reverse for ribbon suspension; the face with a circular central cupro-nickel medallion depicting the shape of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on a terrestrial globe within an imposed gilt circle with a stylised laurel wreath, the royal crown above, surmounted by the crossed swords and palm tree from the royal Saudi cipher, a swallow-tailed ribbon below inscribed ‘LIBERATION OF KUWAIT’ in Arabic and then Latin characters; the reverse plain stippled; diameter 22.38mm (0.88 inch); on original ribbon mounted for wear on an American bar. The medal was instituted in 1991 to be awarded to those who participated in the liberation of Kuwait from Iraqi occupation between 17 January and 28 February 1991.
