Miniature circular silver-gilt insignia with sixteen points, alternately pointed rays and stepped, with ring to the upper reverse for ribbon suspension; the face with a circular central silver-gilt medallion bearing the head of Sheikh Isa bin Salman al-Khalifa, Emir of Bahrain 1961 to 1999, facing left within a white enamel indented decorated ring, circumscribed in Arabic ‘Order of Sheikh Isa bin Salman al-Khalifa - Bahrain’; the reverse plain; diameter 20.63mm (0.81 inch); on original ribbon with rosette on a gilt ground denoting an award of the knight grand cross grade. The Order was instituted in five classes by Emir (now King) King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in 1999 in honour of his father whom he succeeded on 6 March that year.
