Miniature gilt and green enamel circular insignia with loop for ribbon suspension; the face with a circular pale green enamel medallion bearing a Cacique crown centrally within a double circular dental border; the reverse inscribed ‘HONOUR’ centrally, three stylised leaves above and below, circumscribed ‘ONE PEOPLE • ONE NATION • ONE DESTINY’ (motto of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana) and ‘GUYANA’ at the base; diameter 18.52mm (0.73 inch); on original ribbon. The Order was instituted in 1970 following Guyana becoming a republic and since 1976 is the country’s third-ranking Order. It consists of three General Awards and three Special Awards, the Cacique’s Crown of Honour (C.C.H.) being both a General Award and the Order’s second highest award, limited to one hundred living citizens of Guyana and awarded for ‘service of an exceptionally high quality beyond the normal call of duty in the public service, social and voluntary services, industry or trade unions, or in any other area of public service, or achieving excellence of national or international standing and recognition in the arts, professions, sciences or sport or in any other area of activity’.
