Miniature circular cupro-nickel medal with laterally-pierced ball for ribbon suspension; the face with a Cacique crown centrally, circumscribed ‘ONE PEOPLE • ONE NATION • ONE DESTINY’ (motto of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana) and ‘GUYANA’ at the base; the reverse with crossed prison warder’s key, fireman’s axe and policeman’s truncheon centrally, circumscribed ‘FOR LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT’; diameter 18.44mm (0.72 inch); on original ribbon. The Medal was instituted in 1970 following Guyana becoming a republic and is awarded to members of the Guyana Prison Service, Fire Service and Police Force on completion of fifteen years’ continuous full-time service.
