Miniature gilt five-pointed star with loop for ribbon suspension; the face with a circular central medallion with a four-pointed star, itself with a circular central medallion bearing a Cacique crown; the reverse inscribed ‘ACHIEVEMENT’ centrally, three stylised leaves above and below, circumscribed ‘ONE PEOPLE • ONE NATION • ONE DESTINY’ (motto of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana) and ‘GUYANA’ at the base; diameter 18.7mm (0.74 inch); on original ribbon. The Order was instituted in 1970 following Guyana becoming a republic and since 1976 is the country’s third-ranking Order. It consists of three General Awards and three Special Awards, the Golden Arrow of Achievement (A.A.) being a General Award and the Order’s fourth-highest award, to ‘any citizen of Guyana who has performed an outstanding and specific act of service or achievement of an exceptional nature, or is given for long and dedicated service of a consistently high standard in responsible offices, local government services, social and voluntary services, industry or trade unions, or in any other area of public service’.
