Miniature circular bronzed metal medal with fourteen rayed points, with eyelet and suspension bar with a central radiant sun with fin-shaped decorations to either side; the face with a circular central silvered medallion imposed bearing an oval medallion with a cobra with head and body reared and poised imposed on a faceted hatched Greek (Geneva) cross and crossed swords; the reverse with the arms of the Republic of Namibia centrally, inscribed ‘WOUND MEDAL’ above; diameter 21.49mm (0.85 inch); on original ribbon mounted for wear. The Medal was instituted by the Police Act of 1990 to be awarded ‘to a member who, on or after 21 March 1990, while being in action was severely wounded in the execution of duty, resulting in life threatening injuries’. The Medal is rare.
