Miniature circular cupro-nickel medal with loop for ribbon suspension; the face with the head and shoulders portrait of King Sobhuza II facing left; the reverse with the emblem of the Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Force cerntrally, circumscribed ‘UMBUTFO DEFENCE FORCE’ above and ‘LONG SERVICE’ below; diameter 15.96mm (0.63 inch); on original ribbon. The Medal was instituted on 11 July 1980 to be awarded for eighteen years’ exemplary service. The USDF numbers about three thousand personnel and the medal is rare.
