Miniature five-pointed gilt star on integral crescent and five-pointed star fixed ribbon bar; the face inscribed ‘Order of Mewrit’ in Arabic characters within a radiant crowned laurel wreath; the reverse with an Arabic inscription, a ‘V’ above, dated ‘7 November 1959 - 6 Jumada Awal 1379’ (AH1379 = AD1959-1960) to left and right respectively, within a radiant crowned laurel wreath; diameter 21.03mm (0.83 inch); on original ribbon. As far as we can ascertain, there is no reliable published information relating to this award, nor has it been seen except in miniature. The crown suggests that the Medal was issued during the period of the Kingdom of Libya, 1951 to 1969 and the date AH1379 (= AD1959-1960) for its institution is entirely plausible. The Medal is rare.
