Miniature blackened oxidised tombak cross pattée with eyelet for ribbon suspension; the face with the insignia of the 4th Division centrally; the reverse inscribed ‘4D’ centrally, dated ‘1941’ and ‘1944’ on the left and right arms respectively; diameter 17.94mm (0.7 inch); on original ribbon with wire top loop for suspension.
The Cross was awarded to soldiers of the 4th Division who fought during the Continuation War, 1941 to 1944. The Division was recruited in the Salpausselkä area of southern Finland and fought on the Karelian Isthmus between the Gulf of Finland and Vyborg (Viipuri).
