Miniature circular silver medal with eyelet and loop for ribbon suspension; the face with the white rose of Finland centrally, circumscribed ‘VENÄJÄNSAARI’ above and dated ‘22.1.1918’ below; the reverse with a gauntleted arm holding a sword to the left, a mailed arm holding a scimitar to the right (both from the national arms of Finland) above a view of Vyborg Castle from the sea; diameter 16.01mm (0.63 inch); on original ribbon.
The Medal was instituted in 1921 to be awarded to soldiers of the White Army who attempted to take Vyborg (Viipuri) in January 1918.
The Medal is rare, especially in miniature.
