Miniature white enamel Maltese cross with ribbon bar suspension; the face with a crowned central circular red enamel medallion bearing the intertwined characters ‘H7V’ (Haakon VII Victory); the reverse unenamelled bronze inscribed ‘7 JUNI 1945’ (the date of King Haakon’s return to Norway from exile) and ‘ALT FOR NORGE’ (Everything for Norway); the cross is 18mm (almost ¾ inch) across; a slight scratch to the left hand arm is visible under high magnification, otherwise all enamel is intact; on original ribbon. The Cross was instituted on 18 May 1945 and awarded for outstanding service, both military and civilian, during World War II. A miniature such as this would have been worn with evening dress on formal occasions. A rare miniature of fine quality.
