Silvered bronze Order of circular skeletal form with loop to the reverse for ribbon attachment; the face with the laurel-crowned bearded head of a man facing left on a cruciform, the arms with flame-like appearance, the ground of the circular surround deeply stippled; the reverse plain; diameter 46.78mm (1.84 inches); on original ribbon. The Order was instituted by Mohammad Rezā Shāh Pahlavi, Shah of Iran, to reward distinguished long, faithful or meritorious service by lower-ranking civil servants and government officials. The Order was abolished in 1979 following the Islamic Revolution and is not often found.
